Know the basics, but want to learn more about painting with watercolors? With this four-week course, in-depth watercolor painting techniques will be explored that will aid students in developing more realistic and vibrant paintings. Insight into how each color reacts with one another will be reviewed, along with ways of creating contrast, light, and depth within a painting. With the help of the instructor, students will apply these new techniques by creating a small watercolor painting of a nature scene or object.

The Main Library is located at 11 W Church St. in Bethlehem. There is free on-street parking around the library, most with 1 or 2-hour time limits. On weekdays after 5:00pm and all day on Saturdays, parking is available in the garage beneath the library.

Steelworkers' Archive Walking Tours

Steelworkers' Archive Tours
Price: $15 per person over age 12 | Free for ages 12 and under

“Steelwalker” tours are back!  On every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from April through December, former steelworkers or guides trained by steelworkers will lead sidewalk and Hoover-Mason Trestle tours through the Bethlehem Steel plant site.  Thursday and Friday tours start at 11:00 AM.  Saturday and Sunday tours start at 11:00 AM and 1:30PM.  The tours are held rain or shine and leave from the lobby inside the National Museum of Industrial History (NMIH), 602 E. Second Street, Bethlehem.  Free parking is available in the lot across the street from the museum.

The guides will take guests on a multi-faceted journey – from the evolution of iron making in the Lehigh Valley to the history of the Bethlehem Plant from its opening to closing, including its importance in World Wars I and II.  Along the way, guests will learn about the remaining buildings on the plant site, life in the ethnic neighborhoods surrounding the plant, and what life was like working at the plant.  The 1+ hour tour concludes with a question and answer session.

Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the Visitor Center and National Museum of Industrial History.
